Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine explored the role of immunogenic cell death (ICD) in colorectal carcinoma. The study developed a novel ICD quantification system to predict patient outcomes and the effectiveness of immunotherapy. By analyzing data from over 1,000 patients, the researchers identified two molecular subcategories within colon adenocarcinoma/rectum adenocarcinoma. Patients with higher ICD scores showed increased responsiveness to immunotherapy, suggesting that targeting ICD could be a promising strategy for treating colorectal carcinoma.
