Abstract
- Two-wave with diffuse power (TWDP) is one of the most promising distributions for describing multipath fading in the emerging millimeter-wave (mmWave) band. However, traditional error performance analysis in these channels is mostly based on the approximate expressions, accurate only for specific combinations of TWDP parameters that describe particular channel conditions. Considering the aforementioned, this paper begins with an extensive literature overview of the existing average bit/symbol error probability (ABEP/ASEP) expressions in TWDP channels, revealing the absence of the exact expressions that could be used to accurately evaluate error performance in all channel conditions, for most modulation and diversity techniques. Next, the exact ASEP expressions are derived for M-ary rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation with coherent detection and for M-ary differential phase shift keying modulation. These expressions are then used to derive corresponding computationally simple closed-form asymptotic ASEPs, which accurately evaluate error performance for signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) greater than 30 dB. All the results are verified through Monte-Carlo simulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
