Abstract

This article discusses the issuance of paper money by the Pennsylvania Colony in the 17th and 18th centuries. The notes were used to fund construction projects and provide relief for the poor. Pennsylvania was one of the first colonies to issue paper money, with the Province of Massachusetts Bay being the first. The article also mentions the issuance of notes for street paving projects and the construction of jails and correctional facilities. These colonial notes are still available today and provide insight into the history of the time. [Extracted from the article]
