EPBM solution for soil strata of gravel, cobbles and boulders for the construction of Metro Lima Line 2/4.

With more than 10.7 million inhabitants the Lima Metropolitan Area is one of the largest metropolises in the Americas. Demographic change, increasing urbanization and the need for mobility demand intelligent and efficient underground transport solutions. The biggest infrastructure project currently under construction in Peru is the Lima and Callao Metro Line 2. The project in the Peruvian capital will link the district of Ate in the east with Callao in the west. It comprises also the construction of the first part of the Metro Line 4 in the district of San Miguel to the international airport Jorge Chavez. Two TBMs, one EPBM and a Multi-Mode TBM, are in use to construct 25km of a total 35km of new underground metro tunnels.
