Abstract

The Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) has secured a financing deal with international lenders to improve the country's wastewater infrastructure. The €27.1 million ($30m) facility includes funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the UK government, and the EU's Neighbourhood Investment platform. The financing will be used to construct a new wastewater treatment plant in West Irbid, which will have the capacity to treat 12,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day and serve surrounding towns and refugee areas. The EBRD will also provide technical support for the project. [Extracted from the article]
