Abstract

Equatorial Energia, a Brazilian energy company, has requested two loans totaling up to $250 million from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The first loan will be used to finance improvements and capacity expansion for Equatorial's Alagoas subsidiary, while the second loan will provide capital for a distribution subsidiary. The financing includes an 8-year senior green loan of R$500 million ($100 million) and an 8-year corporate facility of $150 million. The IFC board is expected to make a decision on the loan on July 8, 2024. Equatorial serves approximately 10 million customers across seven subsidiaries in various states in Brazil.
