Abstract

English paper piecing (EPP) is a portable hand project that involves creating hexagons using different fabric shapes. Templates are used to cut both the paper and fabric, and precut templates can also be purchased. The fabric is wrapped around the paper template using glue or basting, and the patches are sewn together using whipstitching. After all the patches are sewn together, the paper templates are removed and the quilt is finished by layering the backing, batting, and quilt top. The edges of the backing are folded under and whipstitched to the front. [Extracted from the article]
