Abstract

In the present work we have designed and simulated an Optical Power Limiter created on a two-dimensional silicon photonic crystal. The functioning of the OPL is based on its "asymmetric Fano-like resonance" structural response. The structure of the device is simple and compact. The proposed device exhibits output power saturation for input power in the range of (22.70 - 37.2) w μ m 2 . The band gap calculation and the performance evaluation of the device were done using the Plane Wave Expansion and the Finite Difference Time Domain method. The maximum transmission allowed by the proposed device is 85 % [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
