A study conducted by researchers at the Medical University of Graz in Austria investigated the effects of N-acetyl-selenomethionine (NASeLM) and N-Acetyl-L-methionine (NALM) on two different cancer cell lines, Jurkat cells and MTC-SK cells. The study found that both NASeLM and NALM were able to inhibit cell growth and mitochondrial activity in Jurkat cells, but only NASeLM increased caspase-3 activity. In MTC-SK cells, NASeLM was more effective than NALM in reducing cell growth and mitochondrial activity, indicating additional anti-chemoprotective effects.
