Abstract

New research from Inventec Corporation in Taipei, Taiwan explores the use of electrocardiogram (ECG) technology and machine learning for the early detection and risk assessment of heart failure (HF). The study proposes multi-modal approaches that combine short ECG recordings and long-term heart rate variability (HRV) data to estimate the risk of HF hospitalization. The researchers developed two survival models, one incorporating comprehensive ECG features and the other learning from raw ECG data. The experiments demonstrated high model performance for HF risk assessment, and the approach was implemented in the myHeartScore App for cost-effective and accessible HF risk assessment.
