Abstract

Researchers at Payame Noor University in Tehran, Iran have developed a method for selectively extracting ampicillin from water using DNA aptamer-conjugated magnetic silver nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitating iron precursors and chemically reducing silver ions to form a shell. The aptamer was then immobilized on the nanoparticles to capture and separate ampicillin. The method showed good linearity, with a concentration range of 20-1000 ng mL-1, and had acceptable analyte recovery and precision. Molecular docking analysis revealed the type and position of interaction between the aptamer and the drug. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in Water Air & Soil Pollution.
