Abstract

The article discusses a shift in public sentiment in China regarding the issue of Taiwan. In the past, there was a wave of pro-war sentiment on Chinese social media after Taiwanese elections, with fantasies of military victory and unification. However, the recent Taiwanese elections and China's economic slowdown have led to a change in attitudes. Many Chinese social media users now express grievances about the economy and question the justification for war. The article suggests that while extreme nationalism still exists, public opinion on Taiwan is more divided than it seems, and economic concerns may outweigh nationalist sentiments.
