Abstract
- The US and Mexico have reached an agreement to resume inspections of mango and avocado shipments from the state of Michoacan, which were halted due to security concerns. The deal includes close communication between authorities in both countries and an emergency plan. The US Department of Agriculture had previously halted new exports from Michoacan after reports of American agricultural inspectors being held against their will during a protest. Mexico's President criticized the US for acting unilaterally and stated that the issue could have been resolved through earlier discussions. This is the second suspension of Mexican avocado exports by the US in the past two and a half years. [Extracted from the article]
