Abstract

The document titled "Clippings: Pediatric Nephrology" provides summaries of several studies related to pediatric nephrology. The first study compares the effectiveness of a 5-day antibiotic course to a 10-day course for children with febrile urinary tract infections (UTIs) and finds that the shorter course is non-inferior in terms of UTI recurrence and antibiotic resistance. The second study examines the dosing of prednisolone for children with nephrotic syndrome and suggests that giving a single morning dose may result in less hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression and longer time to relapse. The third study explores short-course therapy for UTIs in children and concludes that it may be a reasonable option for children who show clinical improvement after 5 days of antibiotics. The final study compares low-dose alternate day prednisolone to levamisole for frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome and finds that both treatments are effective, but levamisole may be preferred for patients at risk of steroid toxicity.
