Abstract

A study conducted by the H Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering explores the pricing of vaccines within a group purchasing organization. The researchers developed a mixed integer programming model to determine the prices of vaccines for a group of buyers based on their ability and willingness to pay. The study found that tiered pricing, which takes into account disparities in ability and willingness to pay, can be an effective pricing strategy. The research provides a quantitative comparison of different pricing schemes and concludes that the performance of tiered pricing depends on various factors, including the disparities in ability and willingness to pay across the buyers.
