Abstract

A case report from researchers at Ilam University of Medical Sciences in Iran discusses the effects of Aluminum Phosphide (ALP) poisoning on the human body. ALP is a highly toxic pesticide that can cause damage to various organs, including the heart, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and central nervous system. The report describes a 53-year-old man who developed Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) as a result of ALP poisoning. The patient received supportive treatments such as hemodialysis and plasmapheresis and fully recovered after 23 days of hospitalization. The researchers suggest that a combination of hemodialysis and plasmapheresis can improve outcomes in patients with ALP toxicity. [Extracted from the article]
