Abstract

A researcher at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center has conducted a study on the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and its role in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The study found that patients with NPC who had two positive tests for plasma EBV DNA and at least 50 copies/ml in both tests were at a high risk of relapse. Early medical intervention for this group of patients could improve survival outcomes. The study highlights the potential for using plasma EBV DNA as a marker to identify patients who require early medical intervention. [Extracted from the article]
