Abstract

Researchers from Kindai University in Nara, Japan have conducted a study on teratoma, a type of tumor. The study focuses on primordial germ cells (PGCs), which are responsible for the development of germ cells in mammals. The researchers found that inhibiting a protein called p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in mouse migratory PGCs allows for the derivation of chemically induced embryonic germ-like cells (cEGLCs) that possess pluripotent characteristics. These findings provide insights into the cellular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and highlight the role of p38 MAPK in germ cell development. [Extracted from the article]
