Abstract

A recent scoping review conducted by researchers at Miguel Hernandez University in Elche, Spain, explores the use of Bayesian networks (BNs) in disease diagnosis and prognosis. Bayesian networks are probabilistic graphical models that can depict relationships between variables and have gained prominence in the field of health sciences. The review analyzed 60 relevant papers and found that BNs have shown promise in various medical areas, with an average area under the curve (AUC) exceeding 75%. The study concludes that BNs offer a viable solution for addressing complex medical challenges and highlights the need for further research to optimize their capabilities.
