Abstract

According to Mercer's 2024 Global Talent Trends Study, 40% of U.S. workers believe that work is fundamentally broken, with 1 in 5 wishing they didn't have to work at all. Employees feel that their productivity is being drained by too much busy work and not enough time to focus, as well as ineffective organizational structures, unsustainable workloads, and a desire for greater direction and feedback. The study suggests that organizations should focus on driving human-centric productivity, anchoring to trust and equity, boosting the corporate immune system, and cultivating a digital-first culture to unlock human potential in a machine-augmented world.
