Abstract
- The world's renewable fuelmakers are facing a potential shortage of waste oil, a crucial ingredient in renewable fuels. By 2030, the production targets for sustainable aviation fuel will require twice the amount of used cooking oil that can be collected in the US, Europe, and China combined. This has led to Western nations relying on imports from Asia, particularly China, for cooking oil used in biofuels. The Transport & Environment lobby group has raised concerns about companies potentially using other feedstocks, such as palm oil, instead of waste oil. The demand for waste oil is increasing, but collection rates are only growing by 3%. [Extracted from the article]
