Abstract

The US Justice Department has announced that it will not prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress. House Republicans had voted to hold Garland in contempt for refusing to release audio recordings of President Joe Biden's interview with a special counsel regarding classified documents. However, the Justice Department determined that Garland's responses did not constitute a crime. The department will not bring the contempt citation before a grand jury or take any further action to prosecute the Attorney General. [Extracted from the article]
