Abstract

The article examines the dynamics of changes in the daily water level of the Pregolya River (hydrological station of Gvardeysk). As a result of the analysis of the average values of the daily water levels, it can be concluded that during the 20-year observation period in the mid-20th and early 21st centuries, they were practically the same (581.8 and 581.4 cm, respectively). It was found that there are noticeable differences in the extreme values and intra-annual dynamics of the daily water levels over the studied period. It has been determined that the maximum levels of spring floods and rain floods of the Pregolya River (hydrological station of Gvardeysk) at the beginning of the 21st century exceeded the level of dangerous hydrological phenomena according to the Kaliningrad Centre for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. The calculations have shown that the maximum average values from the period of the second half of March - the first half of April in the 20th century has shifted to February-March (and even the end of January) in the 21st century. The reason for such phenomena may be related to climate change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
