Abstract

A new report from Johns Hopkins University provides updated information on serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), specifically focusing on the drug venlafaxine and its metabolites. Venlafaxine and its metabolite, O-desmethylvenlafaxine, are commonly prescribed for the treatment of depression and anxiety. The report discusses the development and validation of a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for quantifying these drugs and their metabolites in human plasma. The research concludes that the assay meets all acceptance criteria and can be used in future studies on the pharmacokinetics of these drugs. [Extracted from the article]
