Abstract

A recent study conducted on pigs explored the feasibility of transplanting a donor kidney, ureters, and part of the bladder as a single block to a recipient with a simulated microcyst. The study involved 10 pigs, with 11 surviving the operation and one dying due to pulmonary embolism. The transplanted organs appeared visually satisfactory, with no anastomotic leakage observed. Histological examination showed preserved blood flow and no tissue necrosis. The study concludes that this transplantation method is effectively feasible and that pigs are a relevant animal model for genitourinary organ transplantation. However, it is important to note that this study has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
