Abstract
- Chinese power generation and transmission companies are pressuring the Pakistani government to pay overdue amounts ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visit to China. The Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guaranteed (CPPA-G) has already paid Rs 70 billion to Chinese Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and plans to make another payment soon. The outstanding dues for CPEC power projects amount to approximately Rs 550 billion. Various power companies, including Port Qasim Electric Power Company (PQEPC), Engro Thar, and Pak-Matiari Lahore Transmission Company (PMLTC), have reported significant overdue payments. Prime Minister Sharif's visit aims to address these financial issues and ensure the stability of Chinese investment in Pakistan's power sector. [Extracted from the article]
