Abstract

This document is a letter from the Comptroller General of the United States to the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The letter provides an update on the implementation of recommendations made by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and highlights areas where open recommendations should be given high priority. As of May 2024, USAID had 41 open recommendations, and the agency has implemented two priority recommendations related to the Feed the Future initiative. The letter also identifies four new priority recommendations related to improving workforce planning and management and managing the risk of fraud. Additionally, the letter emphasizes the importance of addressing government-wide high-risk issues and the role of Congress in providing oversight and incentivizing agencies to act on recommendations.
