Abstract

Dengue is a disease that has a heavy financial burden, both for governments and for individuals. In this research, the main focus is the study of combined Personal Protective Measures (PPM), using an optimal control perspective. At the same time, an extra parameter is also considered in the mathematical formulation: the willingness of the population to use these measures. The increase of 25% of the population willing to protect themselves from dengue daily leads to similar values in individual costs but leads to a considerably lower number in terms of total infected people and number of individuals sick at the same time.
