- This article provides a personal account of a fireman's experiences working on the Cass Scenic Railroad in West Virginia in 1972. The fireman discusses the daily tasks and challenges of maintaining the steam engine, including checking the boiler, managing the fire, and ensuring proper steam pressure. The article also recounts specific incidents, such as a derailment and the difficulties of firing different locomotives.
