Abstract
- A patent has been issued to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. for methods suitable for the treatment of acne. The patent describes a composition for the treatment of acne that includes glycolic acid, gluconolactone, mandelic acid, a glycol, and a salt-tolerant thickening polymer. The composition is designed to be left on the skin and can be in the form of a lotion. The patent claims also specify that the composition should have a pH of about 3 to 5 and be substantially free of lactic acid and salicylic acid. The inventors state that there is a need for additional acne treatments that are both effective and well-tolerated by the skin. [Extracted from the article]
