Abstract

This article discusses the legacy of Harry Dexter White, one of the founders of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). White's contributions to the IMF are often overlooked, but he played a significant role in its creation. White's vision for the IMF was to foster international financial cooperation and promote prosperity through sound policymaking. However, he became disillusioned with the IMF's ability to carry out his vision, as the world economy grew rapidly after World War II. The article also addresses White's background, his relationship with John Maynard Keynes, and the accusations of disloyalty against him. Overall, White's legacy is closely tied to the value of his greatest achievement, the IMF. [Extracted from the article]
