Abstract

The article is a book review of "American Exception: Empire and the Deep State" by Aaron Good. The book explores the politics of empire in the United States and addresses the uniformity of US policy across different administrations. Good argues that the pursuit of imperial hegemony has led to a decline in the rule of law and democracy domestically. He also discusses the tripartite theory of the state, which includes the public state, the security state, and the deep state. The article highlights the historical development of the national security state and its involvement in covert actions and criminal activities. It concludes by discussing the consequences of the politics of empire, including inequality, ecological destruction, and nuclear omnicide. [Extracted from the article]
