Abstract

Object detection will be invariably an indispensable part of most if not all smart technologies of the future, even in our time the technology is being used in all the fields from medical sciences to farm management, it finds its application everywhere. Essentially there are two methods for object detection which are popular in current times, they are the traditional method of pre-2014 time and the deep learning and neural network using the method of post-2014 time. In this paper, we have proposed an object detection system in order to aid visually impaired people in their general life tasks. The software part of the system has been implemented via the python programming language, for the hardware a laptop computer with Intel i3-11<superscript>th</superscript> generation processor with 12 GB of RAM and integrated graphics has been used. In short, our system works by capturing an image of the product with a barcode or QR code on it and then extracting the QR or barcode part of the image, decoding it, and then giving an audio output to help the user.
