Abstract

Ileo-ileal knotting is a rare condition that presents as an acute abdomen with non-specific signs and symptoms. It is diagnosed during surgery and requires immediate treatment to prevent further deterioration of the patient's condition. This case report describes a 19-month-old boy who presented with vomiting and was found to have ileo-ileal knotting. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the gangrenous segment of the intestine and restore gut continuity. The patient had a complication of chylous ascites but recovered well after treatment. Ileo-ileal knotting is a rare condition that should be considered in patients with signs and symptoms of small bowel obstruction. [Extracted from the article]
