Abstract

The article discusses the growing importance of sustainability in PCB manufacturing. PCBs are currently created using an energy-intensive process that generates toxic waste-water and high volumes of electronic waste. Engineers are exploring more sustainable designs and processes, as well as the recycling of PCBs after use, to reduce e-waste. The use of natural, bio-based, and biodegradable materials in PCBs is also being explored, although there are technical challenges to overcome. Additionally, 3D printing is seen as a promising method for PCB manufacturing due to its design freedom and reduced energy usage. Overall, there is a need to address the challenges of e-waste and transition to more sustainable PCB designs. [Extracted from the article]
