Abstract

The Shangri-La Dialogue, a security forum in Singapore, has brought together senior defense officials from around the world to discuss various contentious issues, including Taiwan, China's relationship with Russia, and tensions in the South China Sea. The forum began with face-to-face talks between US and Chinese defense chiefs and a keynote address by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who criticized Beijing's actions in the South China Sea. The main sessions on Saturday will feature US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik, and a speech by Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is also attending the forum to promote a summit in Switzerland to discuss Ukraine's peace blueprint. [Extracted from the article]
