Abstract
- Digitalization is revolutionizing the air cargo industry, leading to increased efficiency and streamlined processes. Drones and digital technology have reduced processing times and improved shipment tracking accuracy. However, the transition to digitalization has been slower than desired, with some countries still relying on paper documents. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is advocating for consistent global standards and collaboration among supply chain partners to ensure a unified and effective approach. Companies like Swissport are utilizing digital tools such as mobile apps to enhance cargo handling processes and reduce errors. The IATA's ONE Record project aims to create a seamless data exchange ecosystem for air cargo stakeholders. Security is a concern with increased digitalization, but companies are implementing measures to protect data and comply with industry regulations. The integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the air cargo industry is being explored to improve efficiency and security. Integrated digital checklists and mobile applications are guiding warehouse employees through the handling process, ensuring greater security. Data sharing among stakeholders is restricted and encrypted, creating a controlled environment for data usage. Partnerships and end-to-end connectivity are crucial in achieving a digital transformation in the industry. The use of drones and AI algorithms are also being considered as potential tools for improving cargo operations. [Extracted from the article]
