Abstract

This article discusses a study on the temporal dynamics of positive emotion regulation using facial electromyography (EMG). The study found distinct patterns in emotion regulation, showing the possibility of one-dimensional positive affect change with a neutralize goal and sequential two-dimensional change with a transform goal. The research provides insights into the time course of emotional change brought about by different regulatory goals. The study also examined the effects of different emotion regulation goals on emotional reactivity, finding that the neutralize goal led to a neutral emotional state, while the transform goal resulted in a transition from positive to negative emotion. Overall, the findings highlight the complex and dynamic nature of emotion regulation. [Extracted from the article]
