Abstract

A recent report from China Medical University and Hospital discusses new findings on the herpes zoster virus. The research focuses on the relationship between anti-interferon-g autoantibodies and herpes zoster development in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKis). The study found that patients with herpes zoster had significantly lower levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) compared to those without herpes zoster. Additionally, patients with severe herpes zoster had higher levels of anti-interferon-g autoantibodies. These results suggest a potential association between reduced MCP-1 levels and herpes zoster development in JAKi-treated rheumatoid arthritis patients. [Extracted from the article]
