Abstract

Researchers from the University of Padua in Italy have conducted a study on Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare blood cancer. The study focused on the impact of chromosomal abnormalities on the clinical outcome of WM patients. The researchers found that abnormal karyotype (chromosomal structure) was more common in older patients and was associated with poorer overall and progression-free survival outcomes. The study suggests that further research is needed to understand the role of chromosomal abnormalities in WM, particularly in elderly patients. The research was supported by the University of Padua and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
