Abstract
- Michel Houellebecq's Posthumanism and Novelistic Dystopias The article inspects the usage of the genre of anticipatory dystopia in selected novels by the world's most famous contemporary French novelist Michel Houellebecq (* 1956). In the first part, we examine the narrative and aesthetic relevance of anticipatory dystopia as a subversive allegoric tool of the author's novelistic discourse in the novels Elementary Particles (1998, Slovak translation 2017), Possibility of an Island (2005, Slovak translation 2021) and Submission (2015, Slovak translation 2021). In the second part, our aim is to demonstrate that the transgressive dystopian nature of Houellebecqian prose constitutes for the reader a source of knowledge about the epistemological paradigm shift of the contemporary world.
