Abstract
- The article presents information on parliamentary activity on education connected with Scotland. The Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, Jim Wallace said that the Scottish Executive's policy remained that all eligible students who were ordinarily resident in Scotland would have their fees paid by the Executive through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland. Richard Baker said that the bill was an important step forward for tertiary education in Scotland and it meant that the new record levels of funding that the Executive was providing for colleges and universities would be matched by a new structure and an ability to support institutions in establishing an ambitious strategy for higher and further education in Scotland.
