Abstract

This article discusses a novel enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) system for the diagnosis and monitoring of anti-integrin β4 mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP). MMP is an autoimmune blistering disease that primarily affects mucous membranes. The ELISA system utilizes the epidermal basement membrane zone protein complex derived from keratinocytes and can detect autoantibodies targeting integrin β4. The study presents a case of a patient with MMP and demonstrates the potential of the ELISA system to detect and quantify MMP autoantibodies and monitor disease activity.
