Abstract

This article discusses the use of Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement (SAVR) in elderly patients. The study compared patients under 75 years of age to those over 75 years of age who underwent SAVR. The results showed that both age groups had low rates of mortality, stroke, and permanent pacemaker implantation, despite a significant proportion of patients with infective endocarditis. The authors suggest that the decision to use SAVR or Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) should be based on various factors, including anatomical parameters and clinical condition.
