Abstract

France is considering implementing new regulations on children's screen use based on a study that found negative effects of screens on children, including sleep disruption and sedentary behavior. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has criticized the widespread use of screens in schools, leading some to speculate if France will follow Sweden's return to paper textbooks. In Costa Rica, a severe drought has led to nationwide power cuts, impacting the transportation system and causing traffic lights to stop working. Hong Kong's Court of Appeal has granted the government's request to ban the protest anthem "Glory to Hong Kong," citing national security concerns. Fiji's former prime minister, Frank Bainimarama, has been sentenced to one year in prison for covering up financial mismanagement at a university. [Extracted from the article]
