Abstract

In recent years, in Japan which has become a super-aged society, laborers' aging is progressing. Therefore, there is a problem that heavy tasks for elderly people is existing, such as task that continues maintaining the position of the upper limbs. In order to solve this problem, assistive devices for maintaining the position of the upper limbs is developed. However, an application place is limited, because many of these devices are complicated and large. On the other hand, assistive devices with simple mechanisms have been developed, but these devices cannot hold the upper limbs in a free position because the upper limbs position is fixed. Then, in this research, we developed the wearable upper-limbs support orthosis whose structure is simple and that can hold the upper limbs in a free position. In order to develop this support orthosis, we decided to apply the new electronic control brake device named the EAM brake which we already developed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
