Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, examined the impact of a multidisciplinary prenatal clinic for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) on breastfeeding rates and postpartum care. The study found that patients who received prenatal care at the clinic were more likely to exclusively breastfeed at discharge compared to matched controls without OUD. There was no significant difference in postpartum visit compliance or effective, long-term contraception use between the two groups. The findings suggest that multidisciplinary OUD prenatal care can positively influence breastfeeding rates without compromising postpartum care. [Extracted from the article]
