Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on emerging adulthood and housing insecurity. The study, conducted by the University of Melbourne, aimed to understand the prevalence and predictors of housing insecurity among young adults. The research used cross-national longitudinal data from a population-based sample in Washington State (United States) and Victoria (Australia). The study found that living in Washington State, antisocial behavior, a history of school suspension, and academic underachievement were predictors of housing insecurity. The researchers suggest that further analysis should explore state policy differences and identify population-level risk factors for housing insecurity that can be targeted earlier in life.
