Abstract

A recent report from JSS Dental College and Hospital in Karnataka, India introduces a new index called the Diet's Cariogenicity and Healthfulness Index (DCHI) that objectively assesses the cariogenicity and healthfulness of a child's diet. The index aims to guide professionals in making logical diet modifications to prevent dental caries. The research involved a study with 774 children to determine cut-off values for cariogenicity of diet, and the index was found to have a sensitivity of 70% and specificity of 95%. This novel index provides a valuable tool for clinicians in assessing children's diet and reducing the risk of dental caries. [Extracted from the article]
