Abstract

This article discusses a collaboration between a high school and a college German program aimed at increasing engagement, belonging, and retention within and beyond their programs. The collaboration involved guest teaching in a high school German class, providing students with the opportunity to interact with a German professor and learn about a German program at a liberal arts college. Additionally, a virtual language exchange was implemented, allowing high school and college students to communicate and practice their language skills. The collaboration aims to increase program retention and strengthen the pipeline from high school German programs to post-secondary German programs. [Extracted from the article]
